RuhlJohn Ruhl

Case Western Univserity

ruhl@cwru.edu

My research interests include  Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMB) that

carries an enormous amount of information about the universe at a redshift z = 1,000,

a few hundred thousand years after the big bang. My tudies of the CMB wil tell us

about what the universe was like at that time, and answer fundamental questions

about the nature of the universe.

My research interests encompass upper-atmospheric physics and emphasize

the study of energetic particle precipitation, auroral x-rays, cosmic radio noise

absorption, magnetic storms and substorms, and wave-particle interactions. The

broad focus of this research is directed toward improved understanding of the

mechanisms which couple solar processes into the terrestrial environment.

A long-term practical goal of this research is to improve the capability to forecast

and mitigate the influence of space weather events on terrestrial technological systems.
